Solemne Mortis is a Black metal horde from Colombia and they have been active since 2011 , their debut album dropping in 2014 then a split with Kvele in 2019 and lastly
an EP was out in 2021 which was more like an teaser for this newest album (released same year)
as it had just some songs that would end up on the album anyways...

First i had no plan to do a review on it but after spending some extra time with it i was compelled
share some thoughts on it with you as this contains some quality music.
First off (if it is not evident) this band plays grand second wave black metal, some may call it atmospheric and it surely is but often in those cases keyboard is a prominent instrument which wont be found here.
The major leading star (besides all in the band as they are all talented) in Solemne Mortis is the guitars and their flowing satanic melodies, sure the melodies is not super original but that is not what is important but rather to cultivate and uphold the old ways of the cult and they do it well! Fans of for example Sargeists iconic and style setting album "Let the Devil in" will feel right at home....Yeah it shares many aspects of that album but at the same time i would not say it is ripping it off, not at all.

Picture yourself large dark flowing winds that caries restless souls of ancient warlords...Feelings of the old times blowing back into the hearts of slumbering souls, a new golden dawn approaching.
The album contains 10 songs and ends around the 55 minute mark, in general i like a bit shorter albums (i am a bit restless perhaps) but this and some others is an clear exception for sure!
So yeah i really like this album as it does so much in great exalted style and strong delivery, sure some songs are not as strong as others naturally (like track 7 but that just mainly for the ear cutting guitar solos) but you will find at least some parts in each song that hooks you back in.

This was released on CD(500 copies) by The Ritual Productions (theritualprod@yahoo.fr ) in 2021 and last year it had 2 tape editions one from Destroyer Productions : https://www.facebook.com/DestroyerProd

and the other from Ars Bellum Records : https://arsbellumrecords.bandcamp.com
