Today you can read a talk with the boss of a new promising label based in Germany!

I first came in knowledge with the label i think through a post on FB by the artist Skoll (know from bands like HellGoat and Wan and many more) as he plays drums in the band Mörklagt that Nachzehrer Records had just released....And after that tasty discovery i digged into the other releases and found all to be of good caliber and thus.....

1. Greetings Bjørn and thanks for taking time to answers some questions

about your label here.

From what i understand the label was officially opened at the end of 2021.

Tell about what led up to this point in time and what was your initial visions and thoughts

about starting this label?

What background do you have in the "scene"?

-Thanks in advance to have the chance to promote my small labe.

I've been active in the scene since 2000. At that time I also had my own label, but

that went very wrong. I was just too young and had no idea whatsoever about the business.

I was glad that my sister and her partner took over the whole thing in 2003.

I was then active as a "brother-in-law" and contact person for the following label.

We had a really good time, nice releases and also the "PEST FEST", which was specially

oriented to the label name, where bands like Vargsang, Zahrim, Eternity and others performed.

When the bond between him and my sister dissolved, our friendship and the cooperation in the

label unfortunately also dissolved. He finally closed the label in 2019.

RIP Pestilence Records!!!!

I was always up for performing bands that deserved it. That's why I founded Nachzehrer Records.

I like special packaging and not this standard stuff. The aim of Nachzehrer is to support

bands that still have that old spirit. It doesn't matter whether the band was founded in

2022 or 1991. The result is what counts.

2. Besides the obvious that you would think the music is great what else is it you are

looking for in a band/artist that makes you specifically go after it?

-As already mentioned in the previous question: The band, the artist, simply has to be

convinced of it and you can hear that in the music as well. For me, the best example is

the song by Craft from Sweden "False Orders Begone" from the "Terror Propaganda" album

or "Dauðafærð" by Pest. I could name a few more, but they just stand out brutally for me.

You don't just do songs like that on the sidelines. There is heart blood, perspiration,

hate, love, alcohol, drugs and much more involved. That's what it's all about for me.

Picking out the right grains in today's glut of bands.

I also don't give a shit whether someone comes from Russia, Israel, Kyrgyzstan or

somewhere else. If the spirit is right, the music is right, and that's what connects us.

It's all compared to Mayhem or Burzum. For me absolutely wrong, without wanting to

belittle the releases of these bands. In the end, we are all babies from that time.

3. Now after 5 releases (and also running a distro) how have these years been you think?

Have you met some of your goals and what have been the general troubles that you have had to get through? Not that it is unusual but i guess it is pretty taxing to run a homepage shop plus Bandcamp, Facebook and Instagram?

When i had a label i just was active on Facebook and that was almost too much for me haha!

-Yes, you are absolutely right.

I wasn't aware of this to such an extreme (!), as I'm still really "old-school".

But I didn't really realise that there are so many platforms now.

But that's just the way it is. I will need a long time to manage everything on my own.

It was really easier in the past. There were e-mails, faxes, phone calls, personal meetings.

Today, you can practically forget about that. It's a pity, because that was exactly what

made it work between label and band.

The fact is that nowadays it's a lot more work than it was 15-20 years ago.

4. Can you please describe each of the releases?

Also who did the great looking label logo?

Personaly i have a hard time singling out any of the five releases as i think

all keep a solid level of good quality...The vocalist in Peasant though stands out though to me as a intriguing and mental performance!

-Heretic Deathcult was, in the end, a self-release.

We recorded the demo, I don't know how many years ago. Tommy, with whom I've been making

music since 1997, got the whole thing rolling. I sang the demo back then, in a very cheap

and primitive way, but that's exactly how we wanted it.

Several years later, we decided to remix and master the demo songs as well as the songs

from the split with Abigail and add two new songs on top to make a compilation.

That was actually the start of NACHZEHRER RECORDS.

ree

After that it was quiet for a long time, because I just didn't have the time to do any scouting.

Then there was also a health problem. Now I'm fit again and have taken on the whole thing

intensively.

After Tommy, who is a very effective musician, is constantly writing songs, in whatever form.

Then he sent me a song that went in the direction of Ildjarn.

I was immediately enthusiastic and in a very short time we had 11 songs together, but also only

with the support of "Skoll", Jonas, on the drums. That pushed me personally even more.

That's how MÖRKLAGT was born!

ree

So I went searching, in this sea of bands, to find what I would like to have myself.

And then I actually found some treasures: Beyond the trees, Peasant, Ancient Torment

as examples.

ree

Since you mention Peasant: I don't want to single out any of "my" bands.

Every band has a certain something that touches me personally.

ree

Mortem Agmen is a very personal release, because I already know Malphas from Amystery, which we had under contract with Pestilence Records. We have a long lasting and intense friendship. When we met, Malphas son was about 5-6 years old. Meanwhile he plays the guitar with Mortem Agmen. Such constellations are of course ingenious and I didn't have to think for 1 minute when I heard the demo that I really wanted to do this.

ree

That's all it needs.

The label Logo did GOATBAT!

5. So as a final question can you tell something about what we can expect from

Nachzehrer Records in the near future?

Last word is yours!

-The next one will definitely be the tape of "Beyond the trees".

It's a one-man band and he doesn't want a big commotion.

I respect that and so there will be no release date in advance.

The tape will come when it comes.

With Ancient Torment I think I hit a nerve of my own. Discovered it by chance on

Bandcamp and immediately thought of Horna. Far from it. A band from the USA.

I simply had to contact them. Here, finally, is the EP and the ingenious demo

together on the market.

There is not much to say about Peasant: These 6 songs 25 years ago.

The guys are so much fun.

If you want to compare something: A twin of Darkthrone and Satanic Warmaster.

The latest news is that we made a pact with Kalmankantaja.

We will release the last 2 albums and the latest EP on tape.

What makes me especially happy is that another German label will join as co-producer,

as "Aki" from Kalmankantja has already worked with another project.

Wolfmond Production will be the co-producer and I'm looking forward to it!

It will then be planned for 2024 to release the album " Serpent's Nekrowhores" by the Greek

band "Slaughtered Priest" on tape in a special presentation.

The following is also planned for the end of 2023/beginning of 2024:

HellGoat "Culto Mortou II" on tape. Todesschrei from Austria with the "Sturmgeister" album

for the end of 2023 on tape. And at some point their own releases with Heretic Deathcult.

But that has less priority ;)
